Our
Story

Jarochos pronounced ‘Ha - row - chos’ means a person from the port of the state of Veracruz, Mexico .... my hometown.
My love of cooking started at age 12, watching my Tia and mum preparing food. The happiness it brought in having large family gatherings, delicious Mexican home cooked food, music and friends, is something I hold close to my heart, the ‘Jarochos’ way of life.
Besides cooking, my main career has been as a veterinarian, specialising as a surgeon on horses. This has always been my other passion.
Moving to Canberra in 2017 and soon after welcoming my first daughter Ailana, I wanted to introduce traditional Mexican cuisine to the local Community.
This started with a food truck and catering to local events which progressed into opening a shopfront in Braddon in 2024. The restaurant has become more than just a food venue, it is a hub for community gatherings, workshops andcelebrations… somewhere you can feel at home.
